Abhimanyu Kumar’s tenure as PS to Cooperation Minister Amit Shah extended

New Delhi: The central deputation tenure of Abhimanyu Kumar (IAS:2011:RJ) as Private Secretary to Union Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah has been extended by two years.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday (July 24, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Cooperation to extend his deputation beyond January 16, 2027 and up to January 16, 2029.

The order said the extension will be valid up to January 16, 2029, taking his total tenure outside the cadre to the maximum permissible seven years in a single stint, or on a co-terminus basis with the Minister, or till he ceases to function as Private Secretary to the Minister, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Notably, Abhimanyu Kumar has been serving as Private Secretary to Cooperation Minister Amit Shah since July 2024. Prior to that, he served as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Commerce from January 16, 2022.
