New Delhi: Senior IAS officer Rajesh Lakhani (IAS:1992:TN) has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre Tamil Nadu, from his post as Commissioner (Joint Secretary level), Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) under the Department of School Education & Literacy.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday (July 17, 2026), the competent authority has approved the proposal of the Department of School Education & Literacy to repatriate Lakhani to his parent cadre on personal grounds, with the imposition of an extended cooling-off condition.
Notably, Lakhani was appointed as Commissioner, Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, in February 2025. He was appointed to the Joint Secretary-level post until his superannuation on May 31, 2029. However, his central deputation has now been curtailed well before the completion of his approved tenure.
