New Delhi: Nipun Gupta (ICoAS:2011) has been granted a one-year extension in his deputation tenure as Superintendent of Police (SP) in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on July 10, 2026, the competent authority has approved the extension of his deputation tenure for one year beyond June 30, 2026, i.e. from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027, taking his overall tenure in the CBI to five years, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Notably, Nipun Gupta was inducted into the CBI on June 3, 2022 and assumed charge of the post on June 30, 2022. His appointment was initially made for four years, up to June 30, 2026. With the latest order, his deputation tenure has been extended by one year, till June 30, 2027.
