New Delhi: Akhilesh Kumar Singh (IPS:2008:MH) has been granted a two-year extension in his deputation tenure as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on July 10, 2026, the competent authority has approved the extension of his deputation tenure for two years, from July 23, 2026 to July 22, 2028, taking his overall tenure in the CBI to seven years, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Notably, Akhilesh Kumar Singh was inducted into the CBI as Superintendent of Police (SP) in July 2021 for a period of five years. He was elevated to the rank of DIG in June 2022 and has been serving in the position since then. As his deputation tenure was due to end this month, it has now been extended by two years.
