The central deputation tenure of Shyam Jagannathan (IAS:1997:AM) as Director General (Shipping), Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, has been extended by two years.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (June 23, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved extension in his deputation tenure for a period of two years beyond June 1, 2026, that is up to June 1, 2028, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Notably, Jagannathan has been serving as Director General (Shipping) since June 2023 in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary.
Prior to this assignment, he was serving as Development Commissioner, Santa Cruz Exclusive Export Processing Zone, Special Economic Zone, Mumbai, under the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry since June 6, 2021.
