Former Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) Chairman Amarendu Prakash has joined Hindustan Zinc Limited (HZL) as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
He has replaced Arun Mishra, who was recently appointed as Group CEO of Vedanta Ltd.
Amarendu Prakash had assumed charge as Chairman of SAIL on May 31, 2023. Earlier this year, he resigned from the position ahead of his superannuation. His resignation became effective from April 1, 2026.
His move to Hindustan Zinc comes nearly two months after stepping down from SAIL and follows speculation that he may take up a leadership role in a major corporate group.
Hindustan Zinc Limited, headquartered in Udaipur, Rajasthan, is India’s integrated producer of zinc, lead and silver. The company is the world’s second-largest integrated zinc producer and ranks third globally in silver production.
