The central deputation of IAS officer Baldeo Purushartha (IAS:2002:PB) as Joint Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs has been extended for a period of one year.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (February 24, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of the Department of Economic Affairs to extend his deputation tenure for one year beyond March 11, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
This marks his second one-year extension as Joint Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs. Last year, on February 27, 2025, his tenure was extended for a period of one year beyond March 11, 2025.
Notably, Baldeo Purushartha has been serving in the Department of Economic Affairs since March 11, 2020.
