In a key bureaucratic appointment, Amrit Agrahari (IRS-IT:2011), presently serving as Director in the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), has been appointed as Director in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Monday (October 27, 2025), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved his appointment for the balance period of his central deputation tenure or until further orders, whichever is earlier. His current deputation tenure is valid up to July 9, 2026, and he will continue in the PMO until that date.
Mr. Agrahari was initially appointed as Deputy Secretary in the DEA for the G-20 Secretariat until February 29, 2024, which was later extendable under the Central Staffing Scheme. Subsequently, on March 15, 2024, he was reappointed as Deputy Secretary in the DEA on the recommendation of the Civil Services Board, with his tenure extended up to July 9, 2026.
