The central government on Wednesday (August 13, 2025) prematurely repatriated Santosh Kumar Verma (IRSS:1995), serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Consumer Affairs, to his parent cadre.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the competent authority approved his repatriation on personal grounds, along with the imposition of an extended cooling-off condition.

Notably, Verma’s appointment order to the post was issued on February 1, 2025, for a five-year tenure. However, he is being repatriated after just six months of tenure in the department.
