The search for a new chief of country’s apex investigative agency is on. Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led three member high-powered panel, which also comprises Chief Justice of India NV Ramana, and Congress leader in the Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, is scheduled to meet on 24 May to discuss probable names for the coveted post. There are many names, having requisite credentials to be appointed to the top post in CBI, under deliberation.
Few names are doing the rounds in the power corridors as front runners. They are ;
- Y C Modi (IPS:1984:AM), DG, NIA.
- Rakesh Asthana (IPS:1984:GJ), DG, BSF and DG, NCB.
- Subodh Jaisawal (IPS:1985:MH), DG, CISF.
- S S Deswal (IPS:1984:HY), DG ITBP.
