As reported by www.legendofficers.com on October 4, 2022, senior IAS officer Aramane Giridhar (IAS:1988:AP) will take over as Secretary of the Department of Defence in place of Ajay Kumar (IAS:1985:KL) upon his superannuation on October 31, 2022. Till then he will work as an Officer on Special Duty in the Department of Defence. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Wednesday (19.10.2022), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Mr. Giridhar to the post of Officer on Special Duty in the Department of Defence. Presently, he is serving as Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
