Vijay Mittal gets extension as Joint Secretary in Heavy Industries Ministry

Vijay Mittal gets an extension as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Heavy Industries, continuing in the post until June 30, 2027.

New Delhi: The central deputation tenure of Vijay Mittal (IOFS:1991) as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Heavy Industries has been extended until June 30, 2027.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Saturday (September 19, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Heavy Industries to extend his deputation tenure from March 4, 2027 to June 30, 2027, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Mittal has been serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Heavy Industries since March 4, 2022. He was initially appointed to the post for a period of five years, with his tenure scheduled to end on March 4, 2027. His tenure has now been extended by nearly four months until June 30, 2027.
