The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has recommended 120 more candidates for selection into different central civil services. According to an official statement, these candidates belonged to the reserve list after qualifying the civil services examination in 2023.
On the basis of the result declared in April this year, 1,016 candidates were recommended for appointment to Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and certain other central services, against 1,143 vacancies.
The Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) had asked the Commission to recommend 120 more candidates for appointment. Out of these 120, 88 come from general category, five from economically weaker sections, 23 from Other Backward Classes, three from Scheduled Castes and one from Scheduled Tribes.
According to the statement issued by the UPSC, these candidates will fill up the remaining posts based on the civil services examination, 2023 and the DoPT will directly intimate the recommended candidates. The statement also said that the candidature of 30 out of 120 candidates is provisional.
