UP: Six IPS officers promoted to Spl. DG rank

The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday (30.03.2023) promoted six IPS officers of 1990 batch as Special Director General (SDG) of Police.

The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday (30.03.2023) promoted six IPS officers of 1990 batch as Special Director General (SDG) of Police.

They are;

  1. Prashant Kumar
  2. M K Banshal
  3. Tanuja Srivastava
  4. Satish Kumar Mathur
  5. Anju Gupta
  6. Subhash Chandra

UP Police currently has 12 DG-rank officers, of which three are set to retire in the coming two months. To bring those on the rank of ADG to DG, the state government decided to make them special DG.

As per the IPS gradation list, DGs RK Vishwakarma, Anil Agarwal, and Chandra Prakash are expected to retire in the coming two months thus paving way for those on Spl DG rank to be made DGs.

Among the six SDGs, MK Bashal will be the first person to be elevated to the rank of DG.
