New Delhi: The Central government has approved a six-month extension in service for West Bengal Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Agarwal (IAS:1990:WB).
According to a communication issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (July 23, 2026), the approval has been conveyed on the proposal of the Government of West Bengal dated July 15, 2026.
The extension has been granted for a period of six months from August 1, 2026 to January 31, 2027 under Rule 16(1) of the All India Services (Death-cum-Retirement Benefits) Rules, 1958.
Manoj Kumar Agarwal was scheduled to retire on July 31, 2026. With the Centre’s approval, he will continue as the Chief Secretary of West Bengal till January 31, 2027.
Agarwal assumed charge as the Chief Secretary of West Bengal in May 2026.
