In a significant development, former Union Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba (Retd IAS:1982:JH) has been appointed as a Full-Time Member of NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India) on Tuesday (25.03.2025).

As per the official Gazette notification, “the Prime Minister has approved the appointment of Shri Rajiv Gauba, IAS (JH:1982) Retd, as Full-Time Member, NITI Aayog with immediate effect and until further orders, on the same terms and conditions as are applicable to Full-Time Members of NITI Aayog.”

With this appointment, Rajiv Gauba becomes the fourth Full-Time Member of NITI Aayog, joining Dr. Vijay Kumar Saraswat, Prof. Ramesh Chand, and Dr. Vinod Paul. Meanwhile, Dr. Suman Bery serves as the Vice Chairperson and BVR Subrahmanyam (Retd IAS: 1987: CG) is the CEO of the Aayog.

Gauba has had an illustrious career in the Indian bureaucracy, spanning over three decades. He has held key assignments in Bihar and Jharkhand and served in critical roles such as Union Home Secretary and Union Cabinet Secretary. Before becoming Union Secretary for Housing & Urban Affairs, he also held the position of Chief Secretary, Jharkhand.
