MP govt. orders probe into COVID cases in health dept. after rights panel notice

The Madhya Pradesh government has ordered a probe into how so many officials in the health department got infected with the COVID 19 virus.

The decision came after the State Human Rights Commission sought an explanation as to why the health department bureaucrats were not shifted to hospitals even after testing positive for coronavirus.

The commission wants to know why no action has been taken against such officers who failed to do so.

An IAS officer dealing with drugs, equipment and logistics, tested positive last Wednesday. After that, Principal Secretary (Health) Pallavi Jain Govil also tested positive. She, however, refused to move to hospital and insisted on working from home. She and some other officers shifted to hospital only after the chief secretary asked to do so.
