Ex-TN Chief Secretary Shiv Das Meena resigns as Tamil Nadu RERA Chairman

Former Tamil Nadu Chief Secretary Shiv Das Meena has resigned as TNRERA Chairman. Two members of the authority have also stepped down.

Retired IAS officer Shiv Das Meena (IAS:1989:TN) has resigned as the Chairperson of the Tamil Nadu Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TNRERA).

Along with Meena, L Subramanian and C. Sukumar, Members of the authority, have also resigned from their posts.

According to sources, the three have stepped down citing personal reasons. However, there are speculations that the resignations came following the insistence of the state government.

Notably, after the TVK government assumed office, several political appointees reportedly resigned from their positions in various government bodies.

Shiv Das Meena, a former Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu, was appointed as the Chairperson of TNRERA in February 2024, becoming the second former Chief Secretary to head the authority after K Gnanadesikan.

TNRERA is the statutory authority responsible for regulating the real estate sector in Tamil Nadu. It oversees the registration of real estate projects and agents, promotes transparency and accountability, and safeguards the interests of homebuyers under the provisions of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act,
