Enforcement Directorate (ED) chief Karnal Singh (IPS:1984:UT) will be given yet another extension for six months as his fixed tenure comes to an end on October 26, 2018. Although a formal order is yet to be issued by the government.
According to sources, initially goverment was reluctant to move file related to his extension but handling of high profile cases, including the PNB fraud case, the Aircel Maxis case as well as the Rs 5,000-crore money laundering case, allegedly involving Sterling Biotech promoters and personally monitoring them goes in his favour. At this point of time goverment is in no mood to let him go as it may have adverse implications on all on-going investigations.
