New Delhi: The Centre has appointed Dr Srinivasa Kumar Tummala as Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) for a tenure of two years.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (July 16, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved his appointment for a period of two years from the date of assumption of charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Dr Tummala is currently serving as Head of the Indian Ocean Tsunami Warning and Mitigation System (IOTWMS) Secretariat at the UNESCO Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) Secretariat in Perth, Australia.
He will succeed Dr M Ravichandran, who retired as Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences on May 31, 2026. Since then, Dr N Kalaiselvi, Director General, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)-cum-Secretary, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), has been holding the additional charge of the post.
