In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, the Modi government on Sunday (02.10.2022) cleared the appointment of Joint Secretary or Joint Secretary equivalent officers in various ministries and departments.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows :

  1. Franklin L Khobung (IFS:1998:GJ) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare for a tenure of five years. He replaces Ms Namita J Priyadarshee (IFS:1989:GJ).
  2. Pankaj Yadav (IAS:2001:HY) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare for a tenure of five years. He replaces Ms Shomita Biswas (IFS:1988:MH).
  3. Rahul Sharma (IAS:1998:JH) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of AYUSH for a tenure of five years. He replaces D Senthil Pandiyan (IAS:2002:UD).
  4. Ajay Yadav (IAS:2006:TN) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Cabinet Secretariat for an overall tenure of seven years upto 10.11.2023. He will replace Amandeep Garg (IAS:1999:HP)
  5. Deepak Mishra (IFS:1996:KL) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals for a tenure of five years. He will replace Kashi Nath Jha (IP&TA&FS:1994).
  6. Ms. Indu C Nair (IRAS:2001) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Commerce for an overall tenure of seven years up to 11.04.2024.
  7. Gurmeet Singh Chawla (IRAS:1998) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Culture for a tenure of five years. He will replace Partha Sarthi Sensharma (IAS:1994:UP).
  8. Ms. Mugdha Sinha (IAS:1999:RJ) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Culture for a tenure of five years. She will replace Madnesh Kumar Mishra (IRS-IT:1990).
  9. Ajay Kumar (IAS:2006:GJ) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Defence for an overall tenure of five years ending 14.07.2024. He will replace Sanjai Singh (ICAS:1993).
  10. Manoj Kumar Sahoo (IAS:2006:AGMUT) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation for an overall tenure of seven years upto 16.12.2023. He will replace Arun Baroka (IAS:1990:AGMUT).
  11. D Senthil Pandiyan (IAS:2002:UD) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Earth Sciences for an overall tenure of five years ending 23.05.2026. He will replace Ms Indira Murthy (CSS).
  12. Hanish Chhabra (IAS:2006:TN) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs for an overall tenure of seven years ending 14.12.2022. He will replace Ms. Manisha Sinha (IPoS:1992).
  13. Ms Surbhi Jain (IES:2001) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs for an overall tenure of five years ending 09.08.2026. She replaces vice Anand Mohan Bajaj (IA&AS:1990).
  14. Ajay Bhadoo (IAS:1999:GJ) has been appointed as Deputy Election Commissioner, Election Commission of India for an overall tenure of five years ending 24.07.2024. He replaces Chandra Bhushan Kumar (IAS:1995:UT).
  15. Akash Tripathi (IAS:1998:MP) has been appointed as CEO, MyGov, Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology for a tenure of five years vice Abhishek Singh (IAS:1995:NL).
  16. Satyajit Mishra (CSS) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change for a tenure up to his superannuation on 31.05.2027. He replaces Jigmet Takpa (IFS:1990:JK).
  17. Mukesh Kumar Bansal (IAS:2005:CG) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Financial Services for an overall tenure of five years ending 10.03.2025. He replaces Ms. Vandita Kaul (IPoS:1989).
  18. Ms. T J Kavitha (IFS:2000:RJ) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Food & Public Distribution for a tenure of five years. She replaces Ms Mukta Shekhar (IRAS:1994).
  19. Sachin Mittal (IPoS:2000) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Health & Family Welfare for an overall tenure of seven years ending 21.06.2023 vice Vikas Sheel (IAS:1994:CG).
  20. Manashvi Kumar (IAS:2004:PB) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Health & Family Welfare for an overall tenure of five years ending 14.03.2026 in place of Ms. Padmaja Singh (CSS).
  21. Basant Garg (IAS:2005:PB) has been appointed as Additional CEO, National Health Authority under the Department of Health & Family Welfare for an overall tenure of five years ending 10.09.2024.
  22. Hanif Qureshi (IPS:1996:HY) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Heavy Industries for a tenure of five years vice Ms. Nidhi Chhibber (IAS:1994:CG).
  23. Ravi Kumar Arora (IAS:2006:GJ) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for an overall tenure of five years ending 04.08.2024. He replaces Ved Prakash (IRSE-Civil:1988).
  24. Deepak Agarwal (IAS:2000:UP) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for a tenure of five years in place of Pankaj Kumar Singh (IDAS:1994). Presently he is working in Cadre as Divisional Commissioner, Varanasi.
  25. Rahul Jain (IAS:2005:MP) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Investment & Public Asset Management (DIPAM) for an overall tenure of five years ending 03.11.2024. He will replace D Bhatnagar, (IRS-IT:1988).
  26. Rupesh Kumar Thakur (IAS:2006:AGMUT) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment for an overall tenure of five years ending 11.03.2026. He will replace Ajay Tewari (IAS:1993:AM).
  27. Ms. Nandita Gupta (IAS:2001:HP) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment for an overall tenure of five years ending 14.12.2022. She will replace R K Gupta (CSS).
  28. Ms. Farida Mahmood Naik (CSS) has been appointed as (in-situ elevation) as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Mines for a tenure of five years. She replaces Satendra Singh (IAS:1995:JH).
  29. Ajay Yadav (IAS:2005:BH) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy for an overall tenure of five years ending 11.12.2022. His tenure may be extended for two years on the availability of Cadre Clearance. Presently, he is PS to Jyotiraditya Scindhia in the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
  30. Rajat Kumar (IAS:2005:CG) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Personnel & Training for a combined tenure of five years ending 21.08.2024.
  31. Ms. Priyanka Basu Ingty (IAS:2004:HP) has been appointed (in-situ elevation) as Regional Director (JS level), SSC, Kolkata under DOPT for an overall tenure of seven years upto 03.04.2023.
  32. Mohammad Afzal (CPES:1995) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Power for a tenure of five years. He will replace Vishal Kapoor (IRSME:1995).
  33. Amit Shukla (IFS:1999:TR) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Rural Development for an overall tenure of five years ending 01.06.2026. He will replace Biswajit Banerjee (IFoS:1991:UP).
  34. Ms. Indira Murthy (CSS) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, Department of Social Justice & Empowerment for a tenure upto her superannuation on 30.04.2023. She will replace Surendra Singh (IAS:1993:JH).
  35. Lochan Sehra (IAS:2002:GJ) has been appointed as Joint Secretary, IN-SPACe (Ahmedabad) for a tenure of five years.
