DDA Commissioner Vikas Singh’s post in DDA re-designated to Director level

The post held by Vikas Singh (IAS:2010:TR) as Commissioner (Land Management) at the Deputy Secretary level in the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has been re-designated as Commissioner (Land Management) at the Director level. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) on Friday (26.04.2024), the competent authority approved the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs’ proposal to re-designate the position of Commissioner (Land Management) at the Director level, effective until April 27, 2026, thereby completing a total tenure of five years under the central staffing scheme.

It’s worth noting that Vikas Singh began his central deputation tenure on April 28, 2021.

Govind Mohan gets addl. charge of Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs

Govind Mohan (IAS:1989:SK), Secretary of Ministry of Culture, has been given additional charge of Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday (26.04.2024), the competent authority has approved the assignment of additional charge of the post to Govind Mohan from 29.04.2024 to 07.05.2024 during the period of absence on leave of Katikithala Srinivas (IAS:1989:GJ).

SC Collegium recommends Justice Wasim Sadiq Nargal’s appointment as Addl. Judge in JK & Ladakh HC for one more Year

Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court

The Supreme Court Collegium on Wednesday (24.04.2024) recommended Justice Wasim Sadiq Nargal’s appointment as an Additional Judge for another one-year term in the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

Justice Nargal, who assumed office in June 2022, has an extensive legal career spanning over three decades, including serving as Senior Advocate and Senior Additional Advocate General.

His appointment is set to commence on June 3, 2024.

R Veerabahu selected as Director (Finance), Braithwaite & Co. Limited

R Veerabahu has been selected as Director (Finance), Braithwaite & Co. Limited at a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) meeting held on April 24, 2024. Presently, he is serving as General Manager (Internal Audit), Corporate Office New Delhi, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).

He will be appointed to the post of Director (Finance) after receiving vigilance clearances and approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.

SC Collegium recommends appointment of a permanent Judge and fresh term as Additional Judge of two Judges in Chhattisgarh HC

The Supreme Court Collegium on Wednesday (24.04.2024) recommended that Justice Rakesh Mohan Pandey, Additional Judge be appointed as a Permanent Judge of the Chhattisgarh High Court. The Collegium also recommended that Justice Sachin Singh Rajput and Justice Radhakishan Agrawal be appointed as Additional Judges of the Chhattisgarh High Court for a new term of one year.

In November last year, the Chhattisgarh High Court Collegium forwarded its unanimous recommendations for appointing Additional Judge Justice Rakesh Mohan Pandey as a Permanent Judge, and for extending the terms of Justices Sachin Singh Rajput and Radhakishan Agrawal.

The Supreme Court Collegium said that it consulted with other judges of the Supreme Court who are familiar with the Chhattisgarh High Court, as per the Memorandum of Procedure, to assess their suitability. A committee of two Supreme Court judges, formed by the Chief Justice of India, also evaluated the judgments of these Additional Judges.

After scrutinizing and evaluating all relevant information, the Supreme Court Collegium found that Justice Pandey was fit and suitable to be appointed as a permanent judge. It also recommended that Justices Rajput and Agrawal be appointed as Additional Judges for a new one-year term, effective from May 16, 2024, and August 2, 2024, respectively.

FSIB recommends Asheesh Pandey as MD & CEO of Indian Bank

The Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) on Wednesday (24.04.2024) recommended the appointment of Asheesh Pandey to the post of MD & CEO in Indian Bank.

Pandey is currently Executive Director at Bank of Maharashtra (BoM). He took charge as ED of the public sector bank in December 2021. FSIB had interfaced with 17 candidates from various public sector banks on April 23 and 24, 2024 for the forthcoming positions of MD and CEO in public sector banks.

Prior to getting elevated as ED, Pandey was Chief General Manager and Chief Operations Officer at Union Bank of India.

Currently, Shanti Lal Jain is the MD and CEO of Indian Bank, having taken office on September 1, 2021. Pandey is set to succeed him upon his retirement. Prior to becoming MD and CEO, Shanti Lal Jain was the Executive Director of Bank of Baroda (BoB) from September 2018 to August 2021.

The final decision on FSIB’s recommendation will be made by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. FSIB is led by former Department of Personnel and Training Secretary Bhanu Pratap Sharma.

FSIB recommends Rana Ashutosh Kumar Singh as MD of SBI

The Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) on Wednesday (24.04.2024) recommended the appointment of Rana Ashutosh Kumar Singh to the post of Managing Director (MD) in State Bank of India (SBI).

Singh is currently Deputy Managing Director (Retail- Personal Banking & Real Estate ) at SBI. FSIB had interfaced with 16 candidates on April 23 and 24, 2024 for the position of MD in SBI.

Currently, India’s largest bank has four MDs — Challa Sreenivasulu Setty, Managing Director (International Banking, Global Markets & Technology), Alok Kumar Choudhary, Managing Director (Risk, Compliance & SARG), Ashwini Kumar Tewari, Managing Director (Corporate Banking & Subsidiaries) and Vinay M Tonse, Managing Director (Retail Business & Operations).

Alok Kumar Choudhary tenure as MD ends on June 30, 2024, when he will superannuate.

The final decision on FSIB’s recommendation will be made by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. FSIB is led by former Department of Personnel and Training Secretary Bhanu Pratap Sharma.

RBI Deputy Governor T Rabi Sankar gets one year extension

The Modi government has extended the term of RBI Deputy Governor T Rabi Sankar for one year. The Department of Personnel & Training issued an order to this effect on Tuesday.

Sankar was appointed as the RBI Deputy Governor in May 2021 for a period of three years. He was Executive Director of the Reserve Bank before being elevated to the post of deputy governor. He joined the RBI in 1990 and worked in various positions at the central bank.

Sankar has been holding charge of the central security cell, and the departments of currency management, foreign exchange, internal debt management, information technology, payment and settlement systems, external investments and operations, and government and bank accounts, amongst others.

IRS Somanath Shivarudrappa Ukkali debarred from central deputation

Somanath Shivarudrappa Ukkali (IRS-IT:2004) has been debarred from all forms of central deputation for a period of five years w.e.f. February 9, 2024. Additionally, he is prohibited from obtaining cadre clearance for any foreign assignments or consultancies abroad during the debarment period, in accordance with current provisions and terms of para C(xi) of the CVO guidelines.

Ukkali had been appointed as the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of HMT Ltd in Bengaluru under the Ministry of Heavy Industries by an order dated February 9, 2024. However, he informed the authorities that he could not take up the position. The Department of Revenue issued an order dated March 11, 2024, to inform Ukkali of the implications of not joining the assignment, ensuring that he was aware of the potential adverse consequences.

Despite this notification, Ukkali did not assume the CVO role, leading the Department of Revenue to cancel his appointment and officially debar him, with all related consequences. The Ministry of Heavy Industries has communicated to Ukkali that, since he did not take up the post, the appointment has been revoked.

Dnyaneshwar Bhalchandra Patil appointed Development Commissioner of SEEPZ, SEZ Mumbai

Dnyaneshwar Bhalchandra Patil (IAS:2003:MP) has been appointed as Development Commissioner (JS level), Santa Cruz Exclusive Export Processing Zone (SEEPZ), Special Economic Zone, Mumbai for five years. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (23.04.2024), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Dnyaneshwar Bhalchandra Patil to the post for five years or until further orders. He will replace Shyam Jagannathan (IAS:1997:AM).
