Piyush Anand (IPS:1991:UP), Director General of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), has been granted the Apex Pay Scale (Level-17 in the Pay Matrix).
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Saturday (September 19, 2025), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs for the grant of Apex Pay Scale to Mr. Anand with immediate effect.
The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) on Saturday (September 20, 2025) recommended B. Sairam for the post of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD), Coal India Limited (CIL). He is presently serving as CMD of Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL).
Legendofficers.com had earlier reported exclusively on September 16 that PESB had scheduled the interviews for September 20 and listed the 11 shortlisted candidates. As predicted, the same panel of candidates appeared before the Board for the crucial selection round.
Following PESB’s recommendation, Sairam’s name has been forwarded to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) for final approval. His appointment will be subject to the required vigilance clearances and the ACC’s nod. If cleared, he will succeed PM Prasad, the incumbent CIL Chairman, who took charge on July 1, 2023, and is due to retire on October 31, 2025.

The Union government on Monday (September 20, 2025) notified the appointment of Justice Pawankumar Bhimappa Bajanthri, Judge of the Patna High Court, as Chief Justice of the Patna High Court.
The appointment follows the Supreme Court Collegium’s recommendation dated September 11, 2025, in which Justice Bajanthri’s name was proposed along with two others for elevation as Chief Justices of various High Courts.
The central government on Friday (September 19, 2025) appointed senior IPS officer Praveen Kumar (IPS:1993:WB) as the new Director General (DG) of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). He will take over from Rahul Rasgotra (IPS:1989:MH), who has been serving as ITBP chief since December 2023 and is scheduled to retire on September 30, 2025.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved Kumar’s appointment in Level-16 of the Pay Matrix from the date he assumes charge, and his tenure will continue until September 30, 2030, the date of his retirement, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Kumar is currently serving as Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau (IB) under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Senior IPS officer Praveer Ranjan (IPS:1993:AGMUT) has been appointed as the next Director General (DG) of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). The central government issued the appointment order on Friday (September 19, 2025). He will succeed Rajwinder Singh Bhatti (IPS:1990:BH), who is set to retire on September 30, 2025.
As www.legendofficers.com had reported earlier on September 6, Ranjan was among the frontrunners for the coveted CISF top post, and the prediction has now been confirmed.
According to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Ranjan, who is currently serving as Special DG in CISF, has been appointed to the post in Level 16 of the Pay Matrix from the date he assumes charge, and his tenure will continue until July 31, 2029, the date of his superannuation, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Ranjan joined CISF as Additional DG in February 2024 and was later elevated to Special DG. Prior to this, he served as the Director General of Police (DGP) of UT Chandigarh.
Shivaji Narasu Patil (ISS:2010) has been appointed as Director in the Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation, Delhi, under the central staffing scheme. His appointment follows a recommendation for central deputation by the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation.

IAS officer Neeraj Kumar Singh (IAS:2012:MP) has been appointed as Private Secretary to Union Minister of State for Commerce & Industry and Electronics & Information Technology Jitin Prasada. The appointment, made in the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, is for a period of five years.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday (September 19, 2025), his tenure will begin from the date of assuming charge of the post and will continue for five years, or on a co-terminus basis with the Minister, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
IAS officer K Balaji (IAS:2010:UP) has been appointed as Director in the Ministry of Home Affairs. An order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday (September 19, 2025) stated that his appointment under the central staffing scheme will be valid till April 27, 2025, covering the balance of his five-year tenure at the Director level, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Ruchika Katyal (IAS:2013:AGMUT), who was recommended for central deputation by the Ministry of Home Affairs, has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, Delhi, for a tenure of four years.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday (September 19, 2025), Ms. Katyal will hold the post for four years under central staffing scheme from the date she assumes charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
At present, she is serving as Special Secretary, Art, Culture & Languages Department, Government of Delhi.
Ansuli Arya (IAS:1989:BH), Secretary, Department of Official Language, has been given additional charge of Secretary, Inter State Council Secretariat.
As per an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday (September 19, 2025), the competent authority has approved the assignment of additional charge to Ms. Arya from September 20 to October 12, 2025, during the absence on leave of Ashish Srivastava (IAS:1992:MP).
