The West Bengal government on Monday (May 11, 2026) appointed senior IAS officer Manoj Kumar Agarwal (IAS:1990:WB) as the new Chief Secretary of the state.
He will succeed Dushyant Nariala (IAS:1993:WB), who had been serving as Chief Secretary since March 16, 2026, when the Election Commission of India appointed him to the post during the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct.
Manoj Kumar Agarwal is currently serving as Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) and ex-officio Additional Chief Secretary in the Home and Hill Affairs (Election) Department.
Meanwhile, Dushyant Nariala has been appointed as Principal Resident Commissioner in New Delhi.
