Arvind Kumar (IPS:1984:AM) has been appointed as the new Chief of Intelligence Bureau (IB) for a period of two years. He will succeed Rajiv Jain as IB Chief and will assume his charge on 30th June 2019. Presently, he is posted as Special Director, Intelligence Bureau.
He has been working with the Intelligence Bureau since August 1991 and has also served in the Indian Embassy in Moscow, Russia.
Kumar, who is considered an expert on the Kashmir and Naxal issues, is the second most senior officer in the IB after Jain.
