New Delhi: Senior IPS officer Rithwik Rudra (IPS:1993:HP), serving as Special Director, Intelligence Bureau (IB), has been granted the Apex Pay Scale (Level-17 in the Pay Matrix) with immediate effect.
According to an order issued on Friday (July 25, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for grant of the Apex Pay Scale to the senior IPS officer.
Rudra belongs to the 1993 batch of the Indian Police Service and is an officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre. He has spent a significant part of his career in the Intelligence Bureau and is regarded in police and intelligence circles as an experienced officer with deep expertise in intelligence operations.
He has been serving as Special Director, Intelligence Bureau, under the Ministry of Home Affairs since September 2024. Earlier, he served as Additional Director and Joint Director in the agency.
In 2023, Rudra was entrusted with overseeing Intelligence Bureau operations in Chhattisgarh and Odisha, where he supervised three specialised operational groups dealing with internal security matters
