In a significant development for the Rajasthan bureaucracy, senior IAS officer Shikhar Agrawal (IAS:1993:RJ) has been placed under ‘Awaiting Posting Orders’ (APO). He is at the centre of a raging controversy over alleged property acquisitions by him and his family.
Before this order, Agrawal was serving as Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) for Industries.
The order, issued in this regard on Wednesday, cited “administrative reasons” for this move.
Agrawal was considered an influential bureaucrat as he helding multiple key positions in the government. Besides being the ACS for Industries, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), he also held departments like State Undertakings, Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridors (DMIC), and Officer on Special Duty (OSD) at Bhiwadi Integrated Development Authority.
The list of departments under him does not stop here, as he was also serving as ACS for Investment, Non-Resident Rajasthani Affairs (NORA), the Bureau of Investment Promotion (BIP), as well as Chairman of RIICO and Chairman & Managing Director of RAJSICO.
In this way, it is a major administrative decision taken by the Rajasthan govt to put across the message that it has zero tolerance for corruption.
