The Telangana High Court on Tuesday reserved its verdict on Andhra cadre IAS officer Amrapali Kata (IAS:2010:AP)’s plea for her cadre allocation to Telangana. The court said it would deliver its verdict within two weeks.
The IAS officer had moved the High Court seeking to vacate an interim stay on a Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) order directing her allocation to the Telangana cadre.
A division bench of Justices Moushumi Bhattacharya and Renuka Yara heard the matter.
The CAT, in its order on June 24, 2025, had granted relief to Amrapali in a dispute over the mutual exchange of cadre between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
But the Union Government challenged it in the High Court, which stayed the Tribunal’s order, pending disposal of the writ petition.
Amrapali’s counsel argued that the cadre allocation exercise following the bifurcation of the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh had resulted in injustice to her.
The IAS officer moved an application urging the bench to vacate the interim stay and allow the CAT’s order to take effect.
The Union Govt opposed Amrapali’s move, arguing that the issue of insider-outsider classification was unrelated to the orders under consideration and sought dismissal of her application.
The court reserved its order after hearing arguments.
