New Delhi: Senior IPS officer Amitendra Nath Sinha (IPS:2002:OR), currently serving as Inspector General (IG) in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), has been appointed IG in the Border Security Force (BSF) on lateral shift basis.
According to an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Wednesday (September 16, 2026), the competent authority has approved his appointment in the BSF on shift basis from the date of joining the post up to July 10, 2028, with a combined tenure of five years, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Sinha was appointed on central deputation as IG, CRPF in June 2023 for a period of five years. He assumed charge of the post on July 11, 2023, at CRPF Headquarters in Delhi and was subsequently shifted to the Odisha Sector, where he was given charge of operations in the sector.
