CBDT assigns additional charge to four senior officers following retirement of incumbents

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) on Monday (August 31, 2026) assigned additional charge of four senior-level posts to officers in the grades of Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (Pr. CCIT) and Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (CCIT), following the retirement of the incumbent officers on August 31, 2026.

According to CBDT Order, the additional-charge arrangements will take effect from September 1, 2026, and will continue until further orders.

Surabhi Varma Garg (IRS-IT:1991), Principal CCIT, Kolkata, has been assigned the additional charge of Principal CCIT, Patna, and Principal CCIT, Bhubaneswar, following the retirement of D Sudhakara Rao (IRS-IT:1990).

Similarly, Deepali Chandra (IRS-IT:1991), CCIT-1, Delhi, has been given the additional charge of Principal DGIT (HRD), Delhi, following the retirement of Anita Sinha (IRS-IT:1990).

Yogesh Kumar Verma (IRS-IT:1991), DGIT (Investigation), Kolkata, has been assigned the additional charge of DGIT (Investigation), Patna, following the retirement of Kalika Singh (IRS-IT:1991).

Meanwhile, Upendra Bhushan Mishra (IRS-IT:1994), CCIT (C)-2, Mumbai, has been given the additional charge of CCIT (C)-1, Mumbai, following the retirement of Vikram Sahay (IRS-IT:1992).
