New Delhi: Senior IPS officer Veenu Bansal (IPS:2004:AGMUT), who was removed from the Rashtrapati Bhawan security assignment earlier this month amid a controversy over alleged misconduct and a protocol row with Army officers, has now been transferred and posted as Joint Commissioner of Police, SPUWAC & SPUNER.
According to the Delhi Police transfer order issued on August 18, 2026, Bansal, who was serving as Joint CP, attached to Delhi Police Headquarters, has been assigned the new posting with immediate effect.
Bansal was earlier serving as Joint CP (Security), Rashtrapati Bhawan, before being removed from the sensitive assignment on August 3 and attached to Police Headquarters. His removal followed reports of allegations concerning his conduct and a reported protocol dispute with Army officers at Rashtrapati Bhawan.
The development had attracted attention because of the sensitive nature of his assignment at the President’s Estate. Media reports at the time, citing Delhi Police sources, had alleged that the controversy involved complaints from Rashtrapati Bhawan staff and a dispute over protocol, with references to the Blue Book.
The Delhi Police subsequently appointed Atmaram Vasudeo Deshpande (IPS:2006:AGMUT) as Joint CP, Rashtrapati Bhawan, replacing Bansal. Deshpande was earlier serving as Joint CP, Operations (PCR & Communication), with additional charge of Licensing.
Bansal’s latest posting as Joint CP, SPUWAC & SPUNER comes as part of the larger Delhi Police reshuffle involving 43 officers, including 41 IPS officers, announced on August 18.
