Dr. Raju Narayana Swamy IAS, Kerala’s anti-corruption crusader and firebrand officer, said that India’s cultural and historical landscape is defined by its vast and diverse tapestry.
He said the richness of India’s traditions, languages, religions and historical events provides a vast amount of material, making it a challenging task to condense the country’s cultural heritage into a coherent short speech.
According to Dr. Swamy, understanding India’s heritage requires navigating through centuries of history, including the rise and fall of empires, the evolution of art and literature, and the diverse cultural practices that have shaped Indian society.
He said that exploring the intricacies of different art forms, classical dance forms, music and architecture requires careful research and a nuanced understanding.
Dr. Swamy also highlighted the dynamic nature of Indian culture and its resilience in the face of adversity and modernization. He said balancing India’s ancient roots with contemporary transformations requires a thoughtful approach to capturing the essence of the country’s cultural identity.
Dr. Raju Narayana Swamy was speaking on “Indian Culture and Heritage: Views and Vistas” at a function titled “Seethayanam” held at Panamaram in Wayanad.
He said the diversity of languages in Indian society itself presents both a challenge and an opportunity. According to him, choosing the right words to convey the richness of Indian heritage while maintaining clarity and coherence is a delicate task.
He further said that while analysing Indian heritage, it is important to strike a balance between informative content and engaging prose so that the audience remains captivated.
Sri Harikumar, Convenor of “Panchajanyam”, presided over the function. During the event, Dr. Swamy released a book written by octogenarian Sri S. Sarveswaran Nair.
