Anand Jain appointed DGP of Ladakh; replaces K K Sharma

MHA appoints Anand Jain as DGP of Ladakh; senior IPS officer transferred from Jammu and Kashmir.

The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on June 22, 2026 appointed Anand Jain (IPS:1999:AGMUT) as Director General of Police (DGP) of the Union Territory of Ladakh.

Jain has been transferred from Jammu and Kashmir, where he was serving as Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Armed Police.

He succeeds K K Sharma (IPS:2012:AGMUT), who had been holding additional charge of the post.

Notably, K K Sharma was assigned additional charge after Mukesh Singh (IPS:1996:AGMUT) was transferred and appointed as Director General of Police of Manipur.

With the latest order, Ladakh gets a regular DGP following the interim arrangement under additional charge.
