Maharashtra govt stays transfer of IAS officer Dr Ashwini Joshi; Prajakta Verma Kept in waiting

Maharashtra govt stays transfer of IAS officer Dr Ashwini Joshi; Prajakta Verma’s BMC posting also put on hold.

Maharashtra Government

The Maharashtra government on Wednesday (June 17, 2026) stayed the transfer of IAS officer Dr Ashwini Joshi (IAS:2006:MH) from the post of Additional Municipal Commissioner in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to Additional Metropolitan Commissioner in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

The state government also kept in abeyance the appointment of IAS officer Prajakta Verma (IAS:2001:MH) as Additional Municipal Commissioner in BMC, which was issued in place of Dr Joshi.

Notably, Dr Joshi was handling work related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Since prior permission from the Election Commission (EC) had not been obtained, the transfer was stayed.

Following the development, Dr Ashwini Joshi has been directed to continue in her present assignment in BMC, while Prajakta Verma has been kept in waiting without any fresh posting.
