Retired IAS officer LK Atheeq (IAS:1991:KN) has been appointed as Financial Adviser to Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar.
Atheeq retired last year and had served as Additional Chief Secretary in the Finance Department during the previous Siddaramaiah government. He had played a key role in implementation of the Congress government’s five ‘guarantee’ schemes and is closely familiar with the financial challenges being faced by the state.
According to a government notification, Atheeq’s salary and allowances as Financial Adviser to the Chief Minister will be equivalent to those of the Chief Secretary.
He will also continue to serve as Chairperson of the Bengaluru Business Corridor.
