Maharashtra transfers 4 IAS officers; Tukaram Mundhe gets 25th posting

Maharashtra transfers four IAS officers as Tukaram Mundhe gets his 25th transfer in a 21-year career and is appointed FDA Commissioner.

The Maharashtra government on Tuesday (May 19, 2026) carried out a reshuffle of senior IAS officers, with Tukaram Mundhe (IAS:2005:MH) being appointed as Commissioner of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The latest posting marks Mundhe’s 25th transfer in his 21-year administrative career and also his second transfer within less than two months.

Earlier in April, the 2005-batch officer had been shifted as Secretary of the Disability Welfare Department and simultaneously appointed Principal Secretary in the Disaster Management, Relief and Rehabilitation Department. However, before he could assume charge, the transfer order was put on hold, leaving him without a posting for nearly a month.

In another significant change, Kanhuraj Bagate (IAS:2011:MH) has been appointed as Managing Director of the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL). He takes over the position previously held by Ashwini Bhide (IAS:1995:MH), who was recently appointed as Mumbai Municipal Commissioner.

Meanwhile, Shridhar Dube (IAS:2014:MH), who had been serving as FDA Commissioner since February this year, has been transferred and posted as Chief Executive Officer of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Slum Rehabilitation Authority. Prior to his FDA posting, Dube was serving as Managing Director of the Maharashtra State Cooperative Marketing Federation.

Further, R S Chavan (IAS:2013:MH) has been appointed as Managing Director of Haffkine Bio-Pharmaceutical Corporation.
