2 IPS officers get two-year extension as CBI Joint Directors

ACC extends tenure of IPS officers Ghanshyam Upadhyay and Rajiv Ranjan as Joint Directors in CBI till 2028.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved extension in the deputation tenure of two IPS officers serving as Joint Directors in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (May 6, 2026), Ghanshyam Upadhyay (IPS:1999:OR), Joint Director, CBI, has been granted a two-year extension in tenure from June 30, 2026 to June 29, 2028. With this, his total tenure in the agency will become seven years.

Similarly, Rajiv Ranjan (IPS:2005:SK), Joint Director, CBI, has also been given a two-year extension from May 31, 2026 to May 30, 2028. His overall tenure in the agency will also total seven years.
