Suspended Kerala IAS N Prasanth invites disciplinary action for criticizing govt, supporting B Ashok

This latest round of action was triggered by Prasanth's unauthorised comments against the govt and supporting IAS officer B Ashok, also suspended on the same charge, in chat shows.

Suspended Kerala cadre IAS officer N. Prasanth’s (IAS:2007:KL) woes cease to abate—all due to his habit of airing critical views about seniors and the government on public platforms. The expected result was the state government initiating yet another disciplinary action against him on Saturday night. This is the eighth disciplinary action against Prasanth, posted as Special Secretary of the Agriculture department.

Prasanth has been under suspension for over one and a half years. He was placed under suspension on November 11, 2024, for leveling serious allegations against Jayathilak (IAS:1991:KL), then Additional Chief Secretary and now the Chief Secretary, and then Chief Secretary Sarada Muraleedharan (IAS:1990:KL). The suspension has since been extended multiple times.

This latest round of the govt’s action was triggered after he made unauthorised comments against the government in chat shows on TV and YouTube channels and supported another IAS officer, B Ashok (IAS:1998:KL), who was also suspended on the same charge on April 29 for criticising the state government’s policies on social media.

Interestingly, both Ashok and Prasanth appeared together on YouTube videos and on public forums, leveling allegations against Left Democratic Front (LDF) leadership just a few days ahead of Assembly election results being announced.

The actions against both IAS officers were initiated for violating the service rules that restrict officers from expressing views against the government or its policies at public forums.
