The central deputation of Amit Meena (IAS:2011:KL) as Director in the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has been extended for a period of two years.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (February 24, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship to extend Meena’s deputation tenure for two years beyond March 30, 2026, and up to March 30, 2028, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Meena has been serving on central deputation since March 30, 2021, when he joined as Deputy Secretary in the Department of Revenue. He was also placed on compulsory wait in the Department of Economic Affairs. In August 2024, he was appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship.
His five-year central deputation tenure was originally scheduled to end on March 30, 2026. However, with the latest order, his tenure now stands extended up to March 30, 2028.
