Senior IAS officer Surendra Singh (IAS:2005:UP) has been appointed as Secretary to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He rejoined the state cadre on October 6, 2025, after completing a three-year inter-cadre deputation to the AGMUT cadre, where he served as Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi.

A 2005-batch IAS officer, Singh has previously served in several key administrative roles in Uttar Pradesh, including Commissioner of Meerut Division and District Magistrate in multiple districts such as Bhadohi, Balrampur, Firozabad, Muzaffarnagar, Pratapgarh, Unnao, Bareilly, Kanpur Nagar, and Varanasi. Known for his decisive leadership and efficient administration, he is regarded as one of the state’s most dynamic officers.

This marks Singh’s second tenure in the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). Earlier, he served as Special Secretary to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath from October 31, 2019, to January 2, 2020, before being promoted as Secretary to the CM, a post he held till March 2, 2020. He was later posted as Divisional Commissioner, Meerut, a position he continued in until his deputation to New Delhi in September 2022.
