The central government has cleared the appointment of Asheesh Pandey as Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Union Bank of India, and Kalyan Kumar as MD and CEO of the Central Bank of India.
According to an order issued on Monday (September 29, 2025), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved both appointments for a three-year term.
Pandey, currently serving as Executive Director at Bank of Maharashtra, will take charge as MD & CEO of Union Bank of India.
Meanwhile, Kumar, Executive Director at Punjab National Bank (PNB), will become MD & CEO of the Central Bank of India after the retirement of M V Rao in July.
The Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) had recommended Pandey and Kumar on May 30, 2025, after interviewing 23 candidates for top leadership roles in public sector banks.
