SC Collegium recommends 7 Permanent Judges for Bombay HC, extends terms for 2

The Supreme Court Collegium on July 9 recommended the elevation of seven Additional Judges of the Bombay High Court to Permanent Judges. Additionally, the Collegium proposed extending the terms of two other Additional Judges by one year.

The Supreme Court Collegium on July 9 recommended the elevation of seven Additional Judges of the Bombay High Court to Permanent Judges. Additionally, the Collegium proposed extending the terms of two other Additional Judges by one year.

After reviewing all the relevant materials and considering various aspects, the Collegium found Justices Yanshivraj Gopichand Khobragade, Mahendra Wadhumal Chandwani, Abhay Sopanrao Waghwase, Ravindra Madhusudan Joshi, Santosh Govindrao Chapalgaonkar, Milind Manohar Sathaye, and Neela Kedar Gokhale suitable for appointment as Permanent Judges. They also recommended that Justices Sanjay Anandrao Deshmukh and Vrushali Vijay Joshi be reappointed as Additional Judges for a new one-year term, starting from October 7, 2024.
