Hunt is on for the new municipal commissioner of the Chandigarh municipal corporation (MC), as the the Punjab government sent names of three IAS officers to the UT administration for the post. The tenure of the present commissioner Kamal Kishor Yadav (IAS:2003:PB) is set to end in three months. The new municipal commissioner will also be the chief executive officer (CEO) of Chandigarh Smart City Limited (CSCL).
The panel sent by the Punjab government include names of Anindita Mitra (IAS:2007:PB), Amit Kumar (IAS:2007:PB) and Rajiv Prashar (IAS:2008:PB). While Anindita Mitra is posted as director public relations, Amit Kumar is special secretary, health, Punjab and Rajiv Prashar is special secretary, revenue.
The name of the new municipal commissioner will be decided by the UT administration in consultation with the Union government from the panel of names suggested by the Punjab government and send the recommendation to the Union ministry of home affairs.
