West Bengal sends three IAS names to ECI for new CEO appointment

West Bengal government has sent a panel of three IAS officers to the Election Commission for appointment of the new CEO.

The West Bengal government has forwarded a panel of three senior IAS officers to the Election Commission of India (ECI) for the appointment of the state’s next Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), following the appointment of Manoj Kumar Agarwal (IAS:1990:WB) as the new Chief Secretary.

According to official sources, the panel includes Neelam Meena (IAS:1998:WB), Tanmay Chakrabarty (IAS:2006:WB) and Moumita Godara Basu (IAS:2007:WB). The Election Commission is expected to select one of the three officers for the post of Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal.

The development follows the elevation of Manoj Kumar Agarwal as the Chief Secretary of West Bengal. Agarwal had been serving as the state’s Chief Electoral Officer since March 2025 and was associated with overseeing important electoral and administrative processes during his tenure.
