The Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday (19.06.2024) approved the voluntary retirement from service (VRS) application of senior IAS officer Mohammad Mustafa (IAS:1995:UP), who had recently applied for VRS citing personal reasons. Mustafa was currently posted as Principal Secretary, Public Enterprises.
Mohammad Mustafa returned from central deputation in August 2020. He was subsequently appointed as Labour Commissioner. After about a year in that role, he was transferred to Public Enterprises as Principal Secretary in September 2021, where he continued to serve until his retirement.
Recently, many IAS officers from Uttar Pradesh have taken VRS. These include Renuka Kumar (IAS:1987:UP), a former Secretary in the Union Ministry of Minorities Affairs; Juthika Patankar (IAS:1988:UP), a former Secretary in the Central Information Commission; Vikas Gothalwal (IAS:2003:UP); Rigzian Sampheal (IAS:2003:UP); and Vidya Bhushan (IAS:2008:UP).
Renuka Kumar, Juthika Patankar, and Vidya Bhushan opted for VRS due to personal reasons, whereas Vikas Gothalwal and Rigzian Sampheal took VRS for medical reasons.
