The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday (27.07.2023) approved the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) of senior IAS officer Rigzian Sampheal (IAS:2003:UP). The state government has sent his VRS application to the central government with its recommendation. Sampheal is a resident of Ladakh and has sought VRS on medical grounds.
At present, he is posted in Delhi as the Resident Commissioner of UP Government.
Rigzian Sampheal has been the DM of Jalaun, Bijnor, Pratapgarh, Chandauli, Bahraich, Farukhabad, and Kushinagar. Not only this, he has also been the Special Secretary to CM during the tenure of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and former CM Akhilesh Yadav. He went to Jammu and Kashmir on deputation in 2018, after which he returned in 2021.
Rigzian Sampheal is not the first UP officer to take VRS. Before this, IAS officers Renuka Kumar (IAS:1987:UP), Juthika Patankar (IAS:1988:UP), Vikas Gothalwal (IAS:2003:UP), Suresh Chandra (IAS:1989:UP), and Vidya Bhusan (IAS:2008:UP) were also applied for VRS. The state government approved every application except Suresh Chandra’s VRS.
