Faced with a massive financial burden of having to deal with the outbreak of COVID-19 and the 21 day lockdown, the Telangana government has decided to cut the salaries of all its employees as well as those of the elected representatives.

As decided in a high level meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, the state cabinet, MLAs, MLCs, chairmen of corporations and elected representatives of different organisations will face a salary cut of 75%. Salaries of the bureaucrats would be reduced by 60%, while staff in other categories would face a cut of 50%.

The fourth class, contracting and outsourcing staff would only have a 10% salary reduction.

All pensioners, barring the fourth class ones, would have a 50% cut in their emoluments.

All employees and pensioners in the State owned companies and corporations will also face this reduction.
