The Supreme Court Collegium on Thursday (05.05.2022) recommended Gauhati High Court Chief Justice Sudhanshu Dhulia and Gujarat High Court judge Justice Jamshed Burjor Pardiwala for appointment as top court judges.
The Collegium headed by CJI N V Ramana cleared the names. Other members of the Collegium are Justices U U Lalit, A M Khanwilkar, D Y Chandrachud and L Nageswara Rao.
With a sanctioned strength of 34 judges, Supreme Court currently has a strength of 32 judges. The number of vacancies will go up to four soon when Justice Vineet Saran retires on May 10 and Justice Nageswara Rao demits office on June 7.
