The Supreme Court Collegium on Tuesday (07.02.2023) recommended the appointment of Justice Sandeep Mehta of Rajasthan High Court as the Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court.

Justice Mehta was appointed as a judge in Rajasthan High Court on May 30, 2011 and is due to retire on January 10, 2025.
Justice K Vinod Chandran had previously been appointed Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court by the Collegium. Justice Chandran, however, was instead recommended for appointment as Chief Justice of Patna High Court via a separate resolution. Therefore, the Collegium recommends Justice Mehta’s appointment, finding him suitable and fit.
