Odisha is suffering from a significant shortfall of 36 IAS officers, while 25 are on the central deputation. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi made this disclosure in the state Assembly on Monday.
According to CM Majhi, about 14.5 per cent of Odisha’s sanctioned IAS posts are vacant. He said 36 of the 248 sanctioned posts remain unfilled. The CM said it while giving a written reply in the Assembly.
According to him, the State currently has 212 IAS officers in service, of whom 25 officers are currently on central deputation.
The CM rued only 187 IAS officers are currently serving within the state despite the fact that the state’s sanctioned strength of the IAS cadre is 248. It means a shortfall of 36 officers against the approved strength.
Majhi’s reply, however, did not specify the department-wise distribution of the vacant posts.
The CM, however, assured the House that the state govt is taking necessary steps to fill the vacant posts through direct recruitment as well as promotion.
